So I’m in the lobby of the hotel waiting for the coach to the airport!

We’ve all had a fantastic trip here and really hope it all works out to return in 2009!!!!

The staff and volunteers of the Florida International Festival have been looking after us and everything has run so smoothly – so thanks to everyone!!!

The Pops concert last night was a great success – I think it was sold out to a capacity of around 7500 people!!!! I really enjoyed it and the audience were noisily appreciative! It was amazing to see Francois Xavier Roth conducting Star Wars with a huge red lightsaber having beaten Darth Vader in a baton fight!!!

Anyway this could be it for my blogging so hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the trip. I’m sure there will be more LSO blog action in future!!

About LSO

The London Symphony Orchestra is one of the world's top orchestras. Our home is at the Barbican Centre in the City of London where we play over 80 concerts every year, but we also spend quite a bit of time out on the road, touring all over the world. Recently we have toured to Germany, France, Russia, New York, Japan, Holland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and Lithuania; and coming up this year are China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, Portugal, Florida, Romania and a return visit to New York, where we are resident at the Lincoln Center.

It was great to have the LSO here for the festival-hoping to see you all in 2009.

  2. Tom and all the LSO members: What a great time we had with all of you here in Daytona Beach these past few weeks. Each and everyone of you have been so friendly and gracious to us, your Florida friends. While the friendships we have formed just keep getting better, so does your talent and music ability. We appreciate everything you do during this wonderful International Festival. I will personally miss all of you and hope to visit soon in London. Get those party shoes polished and ready!!! Thanks again, it was really sad to see those buses pull away yesterday! See you soon!

Oh, I wish I could have seen you all! I live only a couple hours from Daytona Beach (and was born in Deland). Oddly enough, I was actually in London the week of the 15th! I was performing with the Interlachen High School band (I’m an alumna and tenor saxophonist). We got to record at Jerwood Hall at St. Lukes as well as perform at Westminster Abbey and it was really amazing. I hope you had at least as much fun here as we did in London. I hope you all come back some day to visit 🙂
